Right now I'm experimenting with how much or how little detail I need in the mountain compared to the boulders and rocks. To help with this I through in a couple planes to get a feel for how the water is going to effect the composition. My next step will be to get the particle generated "ribbon strips" in there.
I also feel that the lighting will play an important part to achieve the mood I'm looking for, but realize that this is just a basic sun and sky that I'm rendering these with at the moment.
